ScottishPower Renewables’ windfarm team blows in to take on Only The Brave for East Anglian Air Ambulance

29/08/2025

With just three weeks to go until East Anglian Air Ambulance’s (EAAA) Only The Brave fundraising event, a team of windfarm workers from ScottishPower Renewables have ramped up their training efforts as they prepare to take on the popular obstacle course in the name of charity.

Inspired by ScottishPower Renewables’ headline sponsorship of the 2025 flagship event, the team – from the ScottishPower Renewables East Anglia ONE windfarm – will be tackling the six-mile ‘braver’ category mud obstacle course at the Euston Estate in Suffolk on Sunday 21 September.

Gearing up to face giant hurdles, cargo nets, monkey bars and water guns – and many other challenges – the ScottishPower Renewables Lowestoft-based team are:

  • Troy Allen, Windfarm Controller
  • Tim Moore, Senior Operations and Maintenance Engineer
  • Richard Domiczew, Deputy Site Manager
  • Dan Pitcher, Senior HV Operations Specialist
  • Conor Saunders, Balance of Plant Technician.

Troy – who even roped his nine-month old twin sons, Noah and Morgan, into an impromptu training session – brought the ScottishPower team together. He said: “The life-saving services provided by East Anglian Air Ambulance are funded in the main through the support of the community, so events like Only The Brave are vital and make a huge difference.

“With ScottishPower Renewables stepping in as the event’s first headline sponsor, we’re proud to take part and do our bit. Hopefully, the training will pay off and we can make it round the course, have fun and help raise a huge sum of money for such a worthwhile cause.”

Joining Troy in the fun training session were Conor and Richard.

Conor added: “Living and working in Suffolk, we know how vital the services provided by East Anglian Air Ambulance are, so it was a no-brainer to join the team and take on the Only The Brave challenge. We know how good we are at teamwork and communication in our daily jobs, so it will be great to see how we can apply that – quite literally – out in the field. I can’t wait!”

Richard said: “We might not be saying this after six miles round the course, but what a brilliant way to get people involved in fundraising for such an important charity – and great to see ScottishPower Renewables as the headline sponsor.  We take real pride in being part of our local community here in Suffolk and we know we’ll be cheered on loudly by our colleagues, friends and family. Hopefully we’ll do them proud!”

Daisy Rivetti, Corporate Partnerships Manager at EAAA, added: “East Anglian Air Ambulance provides 24/7 treatment and care to give seriously injured and unwell people in our region the best chance of survival and recovery. The charity receives no regular government funding, relying almost entirely on kind and generous support from the communities we are proud to serve.

Only_the_Brave_PR“We are incredibly grateful for the support from ScottishPower Renewables and the partnership for Only The Brave, our flagship fundraising event. This support really will save lives across East Anglia and it’s great to see the East Anglia ONE team from ScottishPower Renewables getting ready for the big day. Good luck!”

East Anglian Air Ambulance provides advanced critical care – by air and road – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to the most seriously ill and injured people in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. On average, crews are called to eight critical emergencies a day, with each costing an average of £4,250.

Inspired by its pilots, doctors, paramedics, patients and their families, Only The Brave is East Anglian Air Ambulance’s flagship fundraising event. ScottishPower Renewables is the first headline sponsor for the event.
