Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm Repowering
Above: Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm Repowering Map
Location
Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm Repowering site is partly formed by the existing Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm (the Existing Development), 3.2km west of the village of Douglas in rural South Lanarkshire.
Current Stage
The Section 36 Application was consented by the Scottish Ministers on the 26th February 2020. The Determination Notice and Decision Letter can be viewed here:
Consent has been granted for an electricity generation station comprising 14 wind turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 200 metres with a generating capacity around 80 megawatts (MW) and a battery storage facility of around 20MW.
Further details of the project including electronic copies of the EIA Report document and the application and consultation process can be found using the links below.
Project History
The existing Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm is operational and comprises 26 wind turbines at 55m height to tip, and associated infrastructure with a total generating capacity of 15.6MW. Planning permission was granted by the then Clydesdale District Council in February 1995 and it was constructedthe same year to become Scotland's first commercial wind farm. The Hagshaw Hill Repowering project will therefore comprise the repowering and extension of the existing Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm.
The Section 36 Application was submitted in December 2018 to the Scottish Government.
