What we're doing here today is turning off a rolled actual wind farm we see Barry carthers managing director onshore UK and Ireland Scottish Power Renewables and preparing to construct a new hackshore Wind Farm which is going to deliver more than five times as much energy we see aerial footage of the Wind Farm being decommissioned hacksaw Hill one Farmers first commissioned in 1995. we see Joe Mitchell onshore operations and maintenance director Scottish Power Renewables and consists of 26 border 600 combines with a totem capacity of 15.6 megawatts it's enough capacity to power on over 5 000 homes the powering is really about moving on with the generational technology that we have what we're doing here is removing 26 turbines from site and replacing with 14 which give it an even greater generation capacity it's a fantastic place for us to see an older generation turbines which has served us so well for so many decades now being replaced by the newer generation first of all what we need to do is safely decommission the existing turbines so that will involve multiple teams safely dismantling existing turbines removing the rotor removing the sail ultimately removing the towels and these commercial as a whole this is a real Milestone moment for our business we see Charlie Jordan's CEO Scottish Power Renewables we can look back at the many wonderful things we've achieved as a business over many years we're also looking forward look at the opportunities building new projects repowering accelerating and doing more renewable energy than we've ever done before and to do it faster but for the many benefits that's going to bring we can accelerate the amount of green energy that we're producing and in doing so we're creating many jobs many opportunities and also increasing our benefit to the local communities as well yeah the film ends
