Supplementary Environmental Information – Background and Context
Following discussions with Aberdeenshire Council and its specialist landscape advisor, MarramWind has submitted supplementary environmental information relating to its proposed onshore electricity transmission infrastructure.
The supplementary information includes a series of design refinements to the proposed onshore substations, including a reduction in the maximum heights of the HVDC buildings from 30.75m to 23.75m, updated architectural treatment, revised colour palettes and enhanced landscape mitigation measures. Updated visualisations have also been prepared to illustrate the proposed changes from a number of representative viewpoints around the site.
The purpose of the submission is to provide further information on the revised design parameters and their implications for the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment previously submitted as part of the planning application. The revised proposals have been developed in response to feedback received during the planning process whilst maintaining the infrastructure required to support the proposed MarramWind Offshore Wind Farm.
Consultation on the supplementary information will open on 29 September 2026 and run for a period of 30 days. The submitted documents are also available to view on Aberdeenshire Council’s Planning Portal.
If you would like further information or have any questions regarding the submission, please contact the MarramWind Stakeholder Mailbox at stakeholder@marramwind.com.
