ScottishPower Renewables flying high as it announces second year as East Anglian Air Ambulance charity event sponsor

Green energy company, ScottishPower Renewables, is reminding local people of the critical lifesaving role of the East Anglian Air Ambulance as it launches the second year of its sponsorship of the charity’s flagship fundraising event, Only The Brave.

Inspired by East Anglian Air Ambulance pilots, doctors, paramedics, patients and their families, Only The Brave gives teams and individuals the chance to take part in either a three, six or ten mile fun mud run peppered with obstacles like muddy trenches, slides and  cargo nets climbs.

The event raises much-needed funds for the charity, which provides critical care every minute of every day across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Kicking off ScottishPower Renewables’ (SPR) second year as Only The Brave headline event sponsor, colleagues from the company’s East Anglia windfarm projects paid a visit to East Anglian Air Ambulance’s Norwich operational base, Helimed House – home to the state-of-the-art H145 helicopter and theAnglia One crew – to meet with team and personnel involved in the charity’s lifesaving work.

Lowestoft-based Steve Hodger, SPR’s Head of Offshore Operations and Maintenance, said: “The critical services provided by East Anglian Air Ambulance are funded by local people and communities, so it’s important we all step up. East Anglia is the heart of our UK windfarm operations, so we’re part of these communities – living and working across Suffolk – and we’re proud to support the charity’s biggest fundraising event of the year.

“Seeing the Anglia One helicopter up close and hearing the incredible and moving stories from the people out there on the frontline every day about their heroic efforts to save lives and make a real difference for people across the region really hits home about why it matters. So, sign up, get training and get muddy so we can all keep this vital service going for those moments we all hope we never have to face.”

Hannah Foreman, Head of Aftercare at East Anglian Air Ambulance, added: “Fuelled by our supporters, we bring hospital-level critical care to people in severe medical emergencies, every single day of the year. Whether by air or road, we’re there for the most seriously ill and injured, when every second counts. Probably on the worst day of their lives. And our care doesn’t end when the helicopter or critical care car leaves the scene - we offer aftercare support to former patients, their families and bystanders in the challenging aftermath of a life-threatening medical emergency.”

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support from ScottishPower Renewables – not only our first ever headline sponsor, but now joining us for the second year running – for Only The Brave. This support really will save lives across East Anglia. Thank you SPR!”

East Anglian Air Ambulance provides advanced critical care – by air and road – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to the most seriously ill and injured people in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
