The Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero (ESNZ) Committee has hailed the important role East Anglia is playing in building a low-carbon energy future for Britain during a visit to key energy projects in the region.

The team behind the proposed MachairWind offshore windfarm have thanked people across Islay, Jura, Colonsay, Ross of Mull and Iona for participating in the first round of statutory consultation for the clean energy project.

Offshore windfarms could be serviced by battery-powered zero-emission vessels charged from the windfarm’s very own turbines in the future, a study by leading green energy company, ScottishPower Renewables, and Stillstrom by Maersk has found.
