Two floating bins which skim water for plastics and rubbish are being used to cut waste pollution in the sea and harbour at Lowestoft thanks to ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm.

Recent events have elevated the need to rapidly accelerate our transition to renewable energy and a net zero economy. As with my involvement in the RenewableUK Board to date, my focus will be to further the constructive, strategic engagement with UK Government and devolved administrations to ensure the right policy and regulatory frameworks are in place to deploy renewables (onshore and offshore) at pace to create a secure, clean, green energy system that delivers skills development and lasting career opportunities for the future.

ScottishPower, part of the Iberdrola Group, has today (17 January) been awarded the seabed rights to develop three new offshore windfarms off the coast of Scotland – including two new floating windfarms being developed in conjunction with Shell – as part of Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind Leasing
