Mark Hill Windfarm Extension

An extension to Mark Hill Windfarm is set to be based north of the A714 and north-east of Barrhill in South Ayrshire

This ScottishPower Renewables project is currently under development

Project History

We completed construction and began operating our Mark Hill Windfarm in 2011. We have identified an area to the south-east of this site that we feel has the potential for further investigation as an extension.

Community Consultation

Early consultation plays an important role in the way we develop our windfarms and throughout the development process we ensure local communities and stakeholders are informed of our progress.

Local authorities, community councils and statutory consultees have been asked for their views on our initial proposals and in September 2013 we also hosted public information days in Glentrool, Pinwherry and Barrhill to gather the views of local people.

Next Steps

The design of the proposed extension to Mark Hill Windfarm is ongoing. Environmental surveys of the local ecology, archaeology, hydrology, bird life and landscape and visual effects are nearing completion.
