Halsary Windfarm Project Details

Location

Halsary Windfarm will be situated south of Spittal Village in Caithness.

Stage

Consented at 112m to tip in August 2015, ScottishPower Renewables is applying to vary the tip height to 120m.

No. Turbines

15 turbines

Turbine Height

Up to a maximum of 120 metres to the tip of the blade at its highest point.

Operating Capacity

Around 34 megawatts.

Design Considerations

Halsary Windfarm has been designed to complement the nearby consented and operational windfarms. The turbine locations are influenced by the results of extensive environmental and technical surveys.

Benefits

When operational, the tracks at Halsary Windfarm will be available for recreational use by members of the public and we are proposing a small car park, just off the A9, to make accessing these tracks even easier.

Restoring the site to blanket bog will return the site to its natural state and allow greater habitat connectivity with the surrounding peatlands.
