The National Forest Estate is owned by the Scottish Government and managed by Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS). FCS has split the National Forest Estate into six development areas to investigate the potential for wind energy projects across Scotland.
Following a commercial negotiation process underway since 2009, ScottishPower Renewables has been awarded exclusive rights to investigate the feasibility of new onshore wind energy projects within the National Forest Estate in an area that extends from Langholm in the east to Stranraer in the west, in the southwest of Scotland. We also have additional rights to examine further projects across four of the other areas.
We will provide more information on the projects identified as they progress.
