Please be advised that Bibby HydroMap Limited will be carrying out geophysical and Benthic survey investigations within East Anglia ONE North and TWO, an area located within the UK Sector of the North Sea, off the coast of East Anglia.

Survey Operations are anticipated to commence on 12th March 2018 weather permitting. The expected duration is up to 80 days. Survey operations will be undertaken using survey vessels Kommandor Stuart and MV Lia.

Vessel Information

MV Lia

MV Lia is a 15.0m by 5.8m purpose built aluminium catamaran. The vessel colour is predominantly white, with ‘SURVEY’ lettering in dark blue on both sides of the vessel.  The vessel will operate on a 12hr basis and will display appropriate day shapes & lights during survey operations. The vessel will actively transmit an AIS signal.

Survey operations will involve towing survey equipment on and below the water surface, up to 300m behind the vessel. A wide berth is requested at all times as the vessel will be restricted in her ability to manoeuvre. Survey speed will generally be around 4 knots.

MV Kommandor Stuart

MV Kommandor Stuart is a 61m dynamically positioned survey vessel. She has a cruising speed of 10 knots and a draft of 5.4m.

The vessel will operate on a 24hr basis and will display appropriate day shapes & lights during survey operations. The vessel will actively transmit an AIS signal.

Geophysical Survey operations will involve deployment of equipment below the water surface astern of the vessel. A wide berth is requested at all times, as the vessel will be restricted in her ability to manoeuvre, vessel will be on DP during operations.

Notice to Mariners: Hydrographic Surveys

Mariners are advised that the hydrographic survey for the East Anglia ONE North (EA1N) and East Anglia TWO (EA2) Offshore Windfarm site and cable route has now been completed.


EA2 & 1N Notice to Mariners

Nature of operations:

Survey operations shall be conducted on behalf of ScottishPower Renewables.

The survey will involve MV Ivero conducting geophysical survey operations on the EA1N and EA2 sites and the export cable route sections.  For the project, the survey vessel will be towing a side scan sonar up to 300m behind the vessel and 10m above the seabed. MV Ivero shall be conducting survey operations on a 24-hour basis. During the survey, the vessel(s) will display the prescribed lights and signals for survey operations and will be monitoring VHF Channels 16 and 12.

Brown & May Marine provide FLO services to EA1N and EA2. Contact details for the FLO are provided at the end of this notice.

Offshore FLO

An Offshore Fisheries Liaison Officer’s (OFLO) will be stationed on the MV Ivero. The OFLO will remain in contact with fishermen throughout the duration of the survey, and will be available to assist with any project enquiries from local fishermen and fishing interests on the contact details below.
