After careful consideration, ScottishPower Renewables has decided against taking forward an application to the Planning Inspectorate in relation to Mynydd Mynyllod Windfarm, near Corwen in North Wales.
The company has been working on proposals for a potential project since 2010, and the initial development work has included detailed technical and environmental studies, as well as a review of grid connection options. These studies have been carefully reviewed in recent months, and on the basis of this analysis, the company has decided not to progress any further with the project. A key issue has been landscape and visual effects, and particularly those associated with any potential grid connection options.
A ScottishPower Renewables spokesperson said: “We are very grateful for the feedback and advice we have received from the very many interested parties during the development of the project. We have consulted widely with a range of stakeholders, including county councils, community councils and the Mynydd Mynyllod Community Liaison Panel.”
