East Anglia has cemented its position as a major centre for renewable energy with the completion of the East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm – an incredible achievement, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic

In July 2020 East Anglia THREE Limited submitted an application for a non-material change to its planning consent, to amend the parameters of its offshore substations (OSSs) and wind turbines (WTGs). A consultation on the proposals ran from 3 August to 30 September 2020 and consent was granted in April 2021. Below is a summary of the proposed changes.

People from across East Anglia have a chance to secure a job in the offshore wind industry thanks to ScottishPower Renewables which is launching a new apprentice recruitment drive for its East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm.

ScottishPower Renewables has today (Thursday 28 May) signed up to the C-19 Business Pledge, highlighting its commitment and efforts to help communities, colleagues and customers through the COVID-19 crisis and into the recovery phase.

As part of ScottishPower's commitment to investing in the UK's green economic recovery and to contributing to meeting Net Zero targets, the company has signed two separate agreements to develop wind farms in central Scotland that could see investment of over £150 million.

Installation of the 102 wind turbines was completed in April 2020. Commissioning works will continue until all the turbines are complete. The output from the windfarm is already making a very significant contribution by producing the clean, 100% renewable energy to help the UK’s transition to net-zero.

The new onshore substation is located in Burstall, near Bramford.

ScottishPower Renewables and Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) have successfully installed every single turbine on the East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm – another major milestone for the project as it approaches completion.

ScottishPower Renewables has awarded an East of England offshore renewables service provider a multi-million-pound contract to work on the largest windfarm being developed in East Anglia.
