28 June 2022, Glasgow: Primary 7 pupils from Saint Sophia’s Primary School in Galston, East Ayrshire celebrated the end of the school year in style, as they raised the Green Flag Award at ScottishPower Renewables’ Whitelee Windfarm – the largest onshore windfarm in the UK and the first in the world to receive the prestigious accolade.

Following their success in the ScotWind Leasing round at the start of the year, ScottishPower and Shell have signed option to lease agreements with Crown Estate Scotland – reserving the seabed rights for their MarramWind and CampionWind floating offshore windfarms.

A ScottishPower spokesperson said: “Offshore wind is exactly what’s needed to get more clean, green home-grown electricity on to the grid, so we can reduce our dependency on gas and reach net zero.

ScottishPower Renewables has awarded the marine services contract for the East Anglia ONE windfarm off the Suffolk coast to Marex Risk and Marine Consultancy (Marex).

Successful ScotWind partners, ScottishPower and Shell, are set to invest a total of £75 million to help the supply chain and businesses support the growth of the offshore wind industry in Scotland.
