ScottishPower, part of the Iberdrola Group, has been awarded the seabed rights to develop three new offshore windfarms off the coast of Scotland – including two new floating windfarms being developed in conjunction with Shell – as part of Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind Leasing.

ScottishPower has signed two deals to acquire 17 solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the UK, with a combined capacity of more than 800 MW. The contracts have been concluded separately with Elgin Energy, which owns 12 projects, and Lightsource BP, which controls the rest. Both companies are experienced developers with a long track record in renewable energy.

The Scottish Government has approved ScottishPower plans for the UK’s largest windfarm, Whitelee, to have its own purpose built super battery on site, in what will be one of the biggest battery projects in the UK.
