Permission was granted for a 13 turbine (26MW) windfarm at Lynemouth on 9th January 2009 following a planning appeal.
Located approximately 2km north of Ashington, adjacent to the Rio Tinto Alcan Lynemouth Smelter, the windfarm will have the capacity to produce clean green energy for the equivalent of over 14,000 homes.
Construction on the site commenced in October 2010 and is scheduled to be complete in late 2011.
