Background

ScottishPower Renewables has operated Green Knowes Windfarm in Perthshire since 2008 and we are now looking to extend this site on an area located to the south of the operational turbines.

As an extension, the existing windfarm entrance, access roads and grid connection can all be used.

Turbines

Up to five turbines with a maximum height of up to 111 metres tall, measured from the base to the tip of the blade at its highest point.

Operating Capacity

Up to 10 megawatts, with each turbine rated at up to 2 megawatts

Benefits

As a responsible developer of renewable energy, we strive to be good neighbours in all aspects of our work. To date, we have contributed more than £90,000 of funding to communities surrounding our Green Knowes Windfarm, supporting some fantastic initiatives like:

  • Safe Start Auchterarder: providing a breakfast club for children before school
  • Auchterarder in Bloom: providing and maintaining floral displays throughout the villiage
  • Action on Hearing Loss Scotland: funding a local advice event for suffers of hearing loss
  • Blackford Fiddle Group: funding the production of music books to enable community groups to learn traditional music
  • Auchterarder Camera Club: purchasing a projector and other equipment for their members to use

Community Consultation

We consulted with local communities in October 2014 to introduce our plans and again in June 2015 to provide a further update. The feedback we have recieved through consultation, along with data collated through extensive environmental survey work has shaped the final design of Green Knowes Windfarm Extension.
