ScottishPower Renewables seeks to provide local benefits to communities around its windfarms.
This is achieved by a variety of means, from funding a local environmental education service, though support for specific projects, to the provision of local community funds.
In 2007, ScottishPower Renewables invested a total of £750,000 in community benefits in the UK.
Normally, the amount of funding is dependent upon the size of the local windfarm, and how it is disbursed and what it is spent on is decided in partnership with the local communties and local government.
