PIONEERING TIDAL POWER DEVICE TO BE TESTED IN SCOTLAND

Hammerfest Strøm and ScottishPower Renewables Closer to Major Tidal Power Project Hammerfest Strøm UK Ltd., subsidiary of the Norwegian tidal power developer Hammerfest Strøm AS, has today (Tuesday 2nd February, 2010) received a £ 3.9 million grant from the Carbon Trust for the construction and testing of a 1 MW tidal power device at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney.

PERMISSION GRANTED FOR CARLAND CROSS WINDFARM REPOWERING

Following a successful planning appeal, ScottishPower Renewables is pleased to announce that approval has been granted for the upgrading and repowering of Carland Cross Windfarm.

The Crown Estate has awarded ScottishPower Renewables, part of the largest wind energy company in the world* and Vattenfall, the world’s leading offshore wind developer, the right to develop a major offshore wind zone in the North Sea, off the East Anglia coast, that has the potential to power the equivalent of over 5 million homes annually.
